One fashion trend that immediately comes to mind when discussing the disco-heavy 1970s is leisure suits, which are casual suits made up of a shirt-like jacket and matching trousers. The casual suit became synonymous with the music trend thanks to John Travolta's dance routine in Saturday Night Fever.

The craze began in 1930s California, but it really took off when synthetic materials became available, leading to more outrageous styles being offered alongside solid white and blue suits. Today, people still wear leisure suits, but not in the bellbottom and pastel colour combinations that came to be most associated with the term. New textures have also been created thanks to advancements in the technology of synthetic fabrics like polyester since the 1970s. Check out these amazing images to see men dressed in their 1970s leisure suits.
